The Cryptic Crossword Group currently has 6 members, plus two migratory members during the summer months. While we would like to welcome new members, it would be difficult to accommodate numbers beyond 8.

The group was founded by Trevor Halsey using his experience of 60 years doing crosswords and as a member for 4 years of a similar group in Much Wenlock u3a. After a successful three years he has now handed over to John Bennett. The plan is to solve crosswords at the meetings and also do other word games to broaden people’s vocabulary and general knowledge as this helps with solving clues. Other members of the group are encouraged to lead the proceedings should they wish. Please bring a pen and sheets of blank paper/notebook.

We provide coffee and biscuits for which there is no charge. However, John is happy to accept donations on behalf of charity (details provided to members when the collected donations are passed to the charity).
